We use Riococo coconut coir bricks as the starting material. They are fed into our coco buster machine that shreds them apart. No moisture is added during any part of the process. Its then weighed out and put into an xls-a style bag and sealed.
One dry pound of coconut coir will hydrate to 7-10 pounds wet depending on the field capacity preference of the consumer. The 5 pounds of dry coco will hydrate to 35-50lbs wet depending on field capacity preference.
*Adding additional materials such as manure, vermiculite or gypsum will also contribute to the overall weight of the finished substrate.
