Mr Poopy substrates blend consists of horse poop, coconut coir, vermiculite and gypsum. The manure is ran through a power shredder before being batch mixed with the other ingredients. Each batch is hydrated to field capacity before pasteurizing. Our substrate is ready to use out of the bag, just open and mix with your dung loving spawn.

The substrate has a mild manure smell when you first open and add your spawn to it. It will dissipate after a few days of colonization.
During packaging and pasteurization, the substrate gets compressed. It will likely be a very dense block of media upon arrival. When you add it to your tote, break it apart and fluff it up a bit before adding your spawn.

Each 5 pound bag will fill one 32 qt monotub paired with 1.5 to 3 pounds or 2-3 quarts of spawn. For a 66 quart tub shoot for 10 pounds of substrate.

***Three pound substrate bags will not be sealed. The way they are gusset folded and then cooked causes the plastic to hermetically seal on itself. You have to unroll the bags then physically pull the bag apart to get it open. We have been producing and shipping 3# bags like this for years now without any incident of contamination.  It is not possible for a microbe to get into the bag the way it’s folded due to the plastic hermetically sealing on itself. The bags are fine to be stored on a shelf rolled up until you’re ready to use. 5 and 10 pound bags ARE sealed.

SHELF LIFE IS 3 MONTHS AT ROOM TEMPERATURE OR UP TO A YEAR IN THE FREEZER

Mr P keeps a control bag from every batch to ensure proper pasteurization was attained and the substrate falls within quality control standards. We do not offer refunds or order cancellations! All sales are final.
